The Humble Smile Foundation, a group of dental experts and academics, is developing models where volunteer groups work with school staff to promote specific preventive oral hygiene initiatives. Their other actions are: Education, hand washing and oral care.
The Humble Smile Foundation provides comprehensive, sustainable preventive oral care to the most vulnerable children around the world. To cover this, in addition to donating Humble products, The Humble Co. annually offers an amount of money in proportion to that year’s sales.

At The Humble Co. we offer high quality toothbrushes without losing sight of our values of sustainability and making the world a better place.
We get asked why we use nylon and the answer is very simple. We seek balance in being as “green” as possible and offer even better quality than conventional toothbrushes. To date, nylon is the most effective and safest material for proper dental hygiene. Nylon was invented in the 1930s and first appeared on the consumer market for use in toothbrushes. It is a strong, durable and healthy synthetic material.
Synthetic ?! Isn’t it bad for the environment?!
No, but it is synthetic. Let’s look at the type we use in our brushes. There are a few different types of “nylon” polymers. The most common are nylon-6,6 and nylon-6. Although both types have the same proportions of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, and nitrogen atoms, they start with different polymer building blocks. This is due to the difference in the structure of the polymer and its physical properties.
We chose to use nylon-6 because it has lower hardness (which is good for your teeth) and lower water absorption (which is good to keep your brush hygienic) compared to other types of nylon. Nylon’s carbon footprint is comparable to wool, and the nylon-6 we use is biodegradable over time. We are proud to say that our bristles are produced by DuPont, the first major manufacturer of nylon bristles with over 70 years of experience.
